Weijao Wang is a PhD student studying Asian Art with focus on religious visual culture in China and the intercultural artistic communication along the Silk Road. Wang received her MA from the University of Chicago in 2017. Her master's thesis addresses an ideational image of mountain functioning as exegesis in Buddhist murals of Dunhuang Cave Temples in 6th through 8th centuries. Wang is currently interested in landscape painting with religious connotations and intermedia practices of creating sacred space.
