Welcome to CEE

Wei's research focuses is on non-contact strain sensing techniques, including laser-induced fluorescence from nanotube-based smart skin and digital image correlation (DIC) with computer vision. He is also interested in fluid-solid interaction of offshore drilling riser system in wind and wave environement, which was the topic of his Master thesis. Before joining Rice, he studied in China University of Petroleum (Beijing) and worked as an intern at Schlumberger and China National Offshore Oil Corp. (CNOOC).

Research Areas

Nano-tech in concrete strain sensing, Computer vision in structural health monitoring and control, and Fluid solid interaction of marine riser system
