Hi! My name is Valerie, and I’m a senior from Jones College. I’m majoring in sociology and the study of women, gender, and sexuality with a minor in statistics.
I studied abroad in Copenhagen, Denmark for six weeks during the summer after my sophomore year with DIS Study Abroad in Scandinavia. I took two classes relating to sociology and gender/sexuality studies: Food & Identity and Prostitution & the Sex Trade. The second course I took included a study tour in Amsterdam as well! I’m always open to sharing my experiences with both of those courses, so please reach out!
One of my favorite memories from studying abroad in Copenhagen was when my roommates and I went to Lille bakery near one of the popular swim spots along the canal. We spent the day lounging by the water, eating delicious pastries, and swimming. It was the perfect summer day.
