My research interests include family and kinship, gender and sexuality, and reproductive labor, health, and technology in contemporary China, with particular attention to how digital communities and social media cultures shape intimate and familial life. My master’s thesis examined two-sided marriage (TSM), a bilateral marriage arrangement that has emerged among only-child families in China.

Before attending Rice, I earned an MA in the Master of Arts Program in Social Sciences from the University of Chicago, as well as BA and MA degrees in Journalism and Communication from Zhejiang University.
