Sowmya Viswanathan is a junior from Martel College majoring in Social Policy Analysis and Economics, minoring in Environmental Studies, and pursuing a certificate in Civic Leadership and Spanish. She is passionate about civil/human rights, period poverty, youth civic engagement, and diversity, equity, inclusion. Currently, she serves as Martel’s Civic Rep on the SA Democratic Engagement subcommittee as well as Martel's Diversity Facilitator. As a class representative on the SOPA advisory committee, Sowmya is committed to gathering feedback from other SOPA majors and improving the major to better fit the needs of students.
