Sangharsh Telang is a PhD Student in Socio-cultural Anthropology at Rice University. His anthropological work seeks to redirect the empirical and analytical focus from marginalized populations to elite communities. His proposed research examines the interrelationship between highly affluent neighborhoods and the politics of redistribution. Prior to his doctoral studies at Rice, Sangharsh completed an M.Phil in Inclusive Development and Social Justice from the Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai, and an M.A in Political Science from Jawaharlal Nehru University, Delhi. His professional experience spans projects concerning the sugar cooperative industry in Maharashtra, sustainable urban development, and resettlement and rehabilitation policies.
