Dexter, Rita - Headshot

Rita Dexter (she/her/hers) is a doctoral student and graduate research assistant in the Department of Sociology at Rice University. Prior to Rice, Rita worked as a Rural Community Health Volunteer with the Peace Corps in Benin and later as a medical scribe/assistant in a women's health clinic in her hometown, Anchorage, Alaska. In 2023, she earned a MA in Bioethics and Medical Humanities and subsequently worked in medical ethics research at Baylor College of Medicine. Her prior work experience shaped her research interests in women's health, reproduction, health disparities, and medical ethics.
