Rachel Mohl is a Ph.D. student on the Museum Professionals track at Rice University and Assistant Curator of Latin American and Latino Art at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston. She earned a B.A. in Art History from Washington University in St. Louis and an M.A. in Latin American Art History from the University of Texas at Austin. Before joining the MFAH, she was Exhibitions Coordinator at the Museo de Art de Ponce in Puerto Rico. Rachel co-curated Contingent Beauty: Contemporary Art from Latin America (MFAH), and has contributed to various other research projects and exhibitions, including most prominently Intersecting Modernisms: The Brillembourg Capriles Collection of Latin American Art (MFAH) and Adiós Utopia: Dreams and Deceptions in Cuban Art Since 1950 (MFAH). She has also published texts on Regina Silveira, Carlos Rojas, Johanna Calle, Grupo Mondongo, Eduardo Ramírez Villamizar, Xul Solar and Latino art in the United States. Her current research explores the influence of Jewish immigration on the development of the avant-garde in Latin America during the 1940s and 1950s.
