Osinachi Immaculeta Okafor

Osinachi Okafor’s scholarship broadly addresses Modern and Contemporary African Art history, Black Visual Culture, Visual History, Museum Studies, and Curatorship. She is interested in the cultural politics of exclusion involving black female artists in Nigeria, Africa, and the diaspora. Okafor was a Graduate Assistant at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Anambra State, Nigeria, where she assisted in teaching art history and painting courses. She also served as a committee member of the Awka Museum Foundation in Awka, Anambra State, where she organized and curated art exhibitions. She led a team that worked on the maiden project, “XX Exhibition,” in 2021/2022, an exhibition of only female artists. This project was heavily supported by the museum and HAB-HASSEN funding from Germany. It is now an annual exhibition held every International Women’s Day on March 8th. She enjoys painting, writing, and sightseeing, amongst other exciting hobbies.
