I am a PhD Student in Anthropology at Rice University. My research focuses on how marginalization in the Arabian Gulf is informed by formations of capitalism and rentierism. I use ethnography, oral history, archival research, folklore, and storytelling to examine how environmental change due to massive landscape transformation has impacted the livelihoods of indigenous communities and ecosystems, and the interaction between humans and their ecologies. In addition to my academic work, I am interested in multimedia storytelling and writing to explore landscape, ecology, place-making, and community resilience. I put together these pieces on my Hakayalnas Oral History page, translating into 'Tales of People'.
