Haerin Jung is a PhD student interested in American abstract art. She received her MA in Art History from Seoul National University with a thesis on Ad Reinhardt’s black painting series. For her doctoral studies, she plans to investigate the relationship between abstract art and racial identity. Her particular focus will be on the works of Asian diasporic and Asian American artists from the mid-twentieth century. Before coming to Rice, Haerin worked at Art Sonje Center in Seoul.
