Emily Wager (PhD, 2020, UNC Chapel Hill) is a Postdoctoral Fellow who specializes in American politics, with a focus on political behavior, public policy and race and politics. Before joining Rice, she was a Senior Social Scientist at The Movement Cooperative, where she led research projects that examined ways to increase political participation in the U.S. At Rice, she has been engaged in research on the New Voters Project (with Melissa Marschall and Wendy Rahn), funded by the Houston Endowment, which uses survey and field experiments in order to understand how to increase civic engagement among young people and newly naturalized citizens in the Greater Houston area. Her research has appeared in Cambridge University Press, State Politics & Policy Quarterly and Journal of Race, Ethnicity and Politics. Her work has been supported by the National Science Foundation and Public Agenda’s Democracy Renewal Project.
