Emily Wager

Dr. Wager is a postdoctoral research associate at Rice who specializes in American politics. Her research spans across topics related to public opinion, political behavior and public policy, with a focus on race and inequality.   Her dissertation research took a mixed-method approach to understanding Americans’ attitudes towards economic inequality, and was supported by a grant from the National Science Foundation.  Prior to joining Rice, she was a Senior Social Scientist at The Movement Cooperative, where she led research projects that addressed questions relevant to those working in grassroots politics, including field experiments, ethnography, and the analysis of election administrative data.  At Rice, she is working with the Local Elections in America Project to test strategies intended to boost voter turnout among communities in Greater Houston that have had historically low levels of voter participation. Her research has appeared at Cambridge University Press, the Journal of Race, Ethnicity and Politics and DuBois Review.
