Chen-Wei Wu joined the Department of Philosophy at Rice University in 2024. His current research focuses on how the scientific literature on mental imagery informs the philosophy of consciousness. In addition to consciousness, he is interested in topics related to epistemology and ethics, such as reason-responsiveness and autonomy.

While he is also known as Wally, he prefers to be referred to as Chen-Wei Wu in academic writings.
