As a Houston native, Catherine has experienced severe storms firsthand, and her research aims to shed light on these issues. Within the SSPEED Center, Catherine assists in modeling specific storm events and their associated flooding. This helps researchers better understand the floodplains in Texas and predict conditions before they occur as part of storm warning systems.
Additionally, Catherine is interested in understanding compound water levels at the coastline. Her analysis includes tidal constituents, storm surge, sea level rise, and rainfall events.
Research Areas
1. Compound Water Levels at the Coastline and the Isolation of Storm Surge Behavior 2. Development Strategies for Mitigated Flood Risk 3. Severe Storm Formation in the Gulf and Associated Atmospheric Conditions
