Bishal Lamichhane is an Assistant Research Professor at Rice University's Electrical and Computer Engineering department. He is a member of the Digital Health Lab/initiative at the university and researches bio-behavioral ML/AI solutions for objective diagnosis and monitoring of mental health. He investigates speech, wearables, mobile sensing, and imaging modalities to model the bio-behavioral state of individuals for health applications. He has several industrial experiences bringing ML/AI solutions for cutting-edge patient monitoring and consumer health applications, with industrial research positions at Philips Research, Holst Center/IMEC, and Samsung Research America. Bishal has a PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Rice University, a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) in the Netherlands, and a Bachelor of Technology in Electronics and Communication from SVNIT, India.
