Antonio is a PhD student in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Rice University. His research lies at the intersection of biomedical engineering, physiological sensing, and machine learning for healthcare. He has experience in embedded systems, satellite communications, and deep learning.
His current research focuses on developing data-driven methods for patient monitoring and risk stratification in advanced heart failure and intensive care unit (ICU) populations. He is particularly interested in translating engineering innovations into clinically meaningful tools that improve patient care, clinical decision-making, and health outcomes. He is also involved in the development of next-generation left ventricular assist devices (LVADs), focusing on embedded systems, physiological sensing for synchronization and adaptation, and wireless communication technologies.
