My work is aimed towards understanding the determinants of substrate selection specificity in biological systems, with a focus on high-fidelity variants of the CRISPR-Cas9 genome editing system. I use various methods, including the backwards chemical master equation formalism, to examine potential mechanisms
of increased substrate selection specificity in Cas9.
