Wil Thomason is a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Department of Computer Science, working with Prof. Lydia E. Kavraki in the Kavraki Lab. Wil is a roboticist, primarily working on integrated task and motion planning - an area of robotics focused on algorithmic techniques for enabling robots to autonomously carry out complex tasks from high-level specifications. He received his Ph.D. and M.S. from Cornell University, working with Prof. Hadas Kress-Gazit, where his thesis research focused on methods for making task and motion planning both easier to use and more efficient. His research works toward a vision of highly capable, affordable robotic systems working alongside humans as assistants in everyday tasks.
