Steph Parker

Dr. Parker joined the Program in Writing and Communication (PWC) in fall of 2021. As Associate Director, Parker supports the Communication in the Disciplines Program (CID), which emphasizes discipline specific communication tasks in collaboration with faculty and students. From 2017-2021, Parker taught writing courses at Syracuse University, including first-year, creative non-fiction, and professional writing. She holds a PhD in Composition, Rhetoric, and English Studies from the University of Alabama, where she also worked as Assistant Director of the UA Writing Center. Parker’s research and writing are largely interdisciplinary, with publications ranging from a peer-reviewed webtext to poetry and flash-fiction. Her research interests include communication and rhetorical theory, aesthetics, narratology, and digital/visual rhetoric. Parker’s most recent work studies digital narratives of Japanese American incarceration.
