Prashant Kalvapalle

Dr. Prashant Kalvapalle, a postdoctoral scientist under Todd Treangen and Anshumali Shrivastava, leads a team of researchers in developing Omi, an LLM-based chatbot for metagenomics analysis. This tool aims to make bioinformatics more accessible to biologists. During his graduate studies, he engineered bacterial biosensors to monitor DNA transfer and chemical signalling in wastewater microbial communities.

Beyond research, Prashant enjoys cooking, badminton, and outdoor activities like hiking, ice skating, and skiing. He welcomes both research collaborations and skiing partners!
