Matt Reese

With extensive experience in academic support, Matt has been dedicated to fostering student success since 2017. His passion for academic support began during his undergraduate years at Wilkes University, where he served as an academic mentor, peer tutor, and supplemental instructor.

Matt's professional career started at Penn State, where he worked as an academic support assistant in the athletic department. He then advanced to a graduate assistant role at West Virginia University’s Office of Student-Athlete Academic Services. During this time, he took on the responsibility of interim tutor coordinator, overseeing a team of over 50 peer tutors, and played a key role in transitioning academic support programs to a virtual platform during the COVID-19 pandemic.

He briefly worked at Louisiana Tech University before joining the University of Houston as an Assistant Director at the Dominic and Ellen Ng Academic Center for Excellence, where he served from 2021 to 2024. During his time at Houston, he developed a post-graduate internship program and helped oversee academic support for more than 400 student-athletes and helped lead a team of over 40 peer tutors.

Matt earned dual Bachelor of Business Administration degrees in Finance and Sport Management from Wilkes University in 2017. He continued his education at West Virginia University, graduating in December 2020 with a Master of Science in Sport Management and in August 2021 with a Master of Arts in Higher Education Administration.
