Mark is a Research Engineer, working on developing a Python library for phylogenetic inference. Under Dean Nakhleh’s lab group, he also investigates and designs new ways to tackle computational biology problems, working alongside various staff members and graduate students. His expertise is in algorithmic design, object oriented development, and web development.
His other responsibilities include making the software publicly available via https://phynetpy.org, providing extensive documentation on the lab website https://phylogenomics.rice.edu, and disseminating results in papers and at biology conferences.
In his spare time, Mark loves to play electric guitar, tennis, and golf, as well as hang out with his fluffy golden retriever friend :D
