Lucie Shipp Tredennick

Lucie Shipp Tredennick joined Rice University in June 2025 and serves as an Assistant General Counsel. Ms. Tredennick received her J.D. in 2007, cum laude, from Tulane University Law School, Common Law curriculum. She received her B.A. in 2000 in Psychology, cum laude, from Carleton College. While at Carleton, she received a concentration in French and Francophone Studies, studying in Pau, France and Bamako, Mali. Prior to joining Rice, Ms. Tredennick served as an Assistant General Counsel for the Houston Community College System for 7.5 years, after first serving as a lawyer with law firms Thompson & Horton (school law) and Greer, Herz, & Adams (litigation). Her practice areas included student affairs, employment, contracts, and regulatory compliance. Before becoming a lawyer, Ms. Tredennick taught Elementary Special Education as a teacher hired through Teach for America.

Ms. Tredennick is a member of the State Bar of Texas and is also licensed to practice before Texas federal district courts and the United States Supreme Court. She is a member of the National Association of College and University Attorneys (NACUA) and the Society for Corporate Compliance and Ethics (SCCE), through which she holds a Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional (CCEP) certification.
