Kimberly Vetter leads and shapes the communications strategy for the Office of the President at Rice University, ensuring that President Reginald DesRoches’ vision and goals are communicated effectively through diverse internal and external channels.
After joining Rice in 2020 as a communications specialist for the provost, Vetter advanced to her current role in 2022, where she has elevated the visibility of the president's office and strengthened engagement with key university stakeholders. Prior to joining Rice, Vetter spent six years at Texas Children’s Hospital in corporate and executive communications. She is also a skilled writer and editor with more than a decade of experience in newspaper journalism.
Her work has been recognized with prestigious honors, including the National Sunshine Award from the Society of Professional Journalists, which celebrates transparency in public affairs reporting, alongside several industry-leading awards like the Bronze Quill from the International Association of Business Communicators and multiple Crystal Awards from the American Marketing Association.
Vetter’s commitment to mentorship and community engagement extends beyond her professional responsibilities. As an associate at Rice’s Lovett College, she actively supports students throughout their time at Rice. Her passion for service is also reflected in her role as a Grade Level Adviser for the Sienna Chapter of the National Charity League, where she helps guide young women in philanthropy.
Vetter holds a graduate degree in journalism from the University of North Texas and an undergraduate degree in communications from Centenary College of Louisiana.
