Katrina Burton

Katrina Burton is an award-winning writer, marketing and brand strategist, and public relations expert. She currently serves as the Marketing Manager for the George R. Brown School of Engineering and Computing at Rice University. Prior to joining Rice, Burton spent five years as Marketing Manager at Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center and 16 years at the nation’s #1 hospital for cancer care. Her extensive experience in media relations, marketing and brand alignment, creative content development, award submissions, philanthropic engagement, community relations, and communications strategy has been instrumental in driving organizational growth.

Burton is a past president and a current board member of the American Medical Writers Association (AMWA) where she provided strategic leadership, governance, vision, financial oversight, and policy development. She is a member of the AMWA faculty and named a 2020 AMWA Fellow.

Burton holds a Bachelor of Science in Journalism from Texas A&M University, with a minor in Marketing. Outside of work and conference presentations, she enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, and mentoring students interested in pursuing careers in communications.
