Jorge E. Vidal is an Emmy Award–winning director and communications research specialist who joined Rice University on January 1, 2025.

He supports research visibility and strategic outreach for the Rice Advanced Materials Institute, the Smalley-Curl Institute, and Rice University Public Affairs, specializing in materials, nano and quantum science/engineering storytelling, audiovisual production, and digital engagement. His work in science communication has earned multiple national honors, including an Emmy Award, Telly Awards, Communicator Awards, and recognition in Marquis Who’s Who, and includes contributions to peer-reviewed publications and a U.S. patent in materials science.
