Jacob Carpenter leads the Kinder Institute for Urban Research's news platform, Urban Edge, overseeing day-to-day content strategy and production. He also regularly writes for Urban Edge and collaborates with guest writers on the platform. Prior to joining the Kinder Institute for Urban Research, he spent nearly two decades as a journalist, including two years as the Houston Landing's education editor and four years covering Houston ISD for the Houston Chronicle. He is a native of suburban Detroit and graduated from Michigan State University with a bachelor's degree in journalism.
