Hyunchul Kim received his B.S. and M.S. degrees in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Yonsei University in 2016 and 2018, respectively, and earned his Ph.D. in Mechanical Science and Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2025. His doctoral research focused on the effects of mechanical strain on the electrical and optoelectronic properties of two-dimensional materials and their device applications. At RAMI, Hyunchul is working with Prof. Jun Lou and Prof. Haeyeon Lee to uncover new physical phenomena in strained two-dimensional materials, aiming to enable novel device concepts for energy conversion and sensing applications.
