Faiza Zafar joined the Rice Office of STEM Engagement in July 2022. In her role as the Assistant Director for Equitable Research, Evaluation, and Grant Development, she is responsible for proposal development, peer-reviewed journal publications, and data collection for various projects relevant to STEM education.
Before joining Rice, she served as a Math Teacher at Carl Wunsche Sr. High School. Her research interests include providing equitable STEM resources to teachers and students, especially those from underprivileged backgrounds. She hopes to inspire the next generation of women to join STEM careers and inform parents of the various programs and opportunities available to their children to excel academically.
Zafar holds a B.S. in Chemistry and M.ED. from the University of St. Thomas, Houston, TX. She recently completed her Ph.D. in Educational Leadership with a specialization in Math Education from the University of the Cumberlands.
