Emily Ball joined the SSI team as the Assistant Director for the Rice Emerging Scholars Program (RESP) in January 2022. Born and raised in Honolulu, Hawai'i, Emily moved to Texas to pursue her Master of Science in Educational Administration from the Student Affairs Administration in Higher Education (SAAHE) program at Texas A&M University. Prior to that, Emily received her Bachelor's of Business Administration with an emphasis in human resource management and a
minor in public health at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa. Aside from helping students flourish within higher education, Emily also loves spending time with her dog Milo, getting coffee or boba, and trying new recipes in the kitchen.
Advising Philosophy: Emily strives to meet students where they are at, and to walk alongside them on their journey to academic and personal growth. It is her hope that college is a transformative experience for students, and that they are able to learn more about themselves and the world around them in the process. In advising, she aims to be a
guide, an advocate, and a pillar of support. She believes that students need someone who has their back on campus to facilitate a sense of belonging, and wants to be that person for the students she advises.
