I am an experimental volcanologist with an interest in rock mechanics. I conduct experiments that explore how the physical and transport properties of geologic materials change during deformation. My past research topics include the dynamics of melt migration in crystal-rich magma reservoirs, the timescales of healing and permeability loss in high-temperature, high-pressure environments, the rheology and outgassing behavior of bubbly melts, and the temperature-dependent solubility of water in rhyolitic melts.

Research Areas

volcanology, rock deformation, rheology, permeability, high-temperature and high-pressure experiments
