Dr. Aldo Spatafora obtained his B.S. degree in Biotechnology and Bioprocess Engineering from Tecnologico de Monterrey (Monterrey, Mexico) in 2016 and his Ph.D. in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering from Rice University in 2023. His previous research combined experiments and simulations to study the assembly and rotational dynamics of superparamagnetic colloids under time-varying magnetic fields for the development of micro-robots and stimuli-responsive materials. He joined Rice once again in 2024 as a research scientist in Prof. Sibani Lisa Biswal’s research group, where his current research focuses in elucidating the dynamics and material properties of various soft matter systems including colloidal suspensions, emulsions, and foams.
