Sonja Gee is a native Houstonian with a passion for making Houston a great home for all. She is the daughter of two immigrants who deeply values family, faith, community and education. Known for her visionary leadership in empowering vulnerable populations, Sonja currently serves as President & CEO of MAM (Memorial Assistance Ministries) one of Houston’s largest community-based social service organizations. Under Sonja's leadership, MAM has nearly doubled in size and impact, most recently completing a $21M+ campaign to expand its economic mobility, opportunity youth, and entrepreneurship programming.
Sonja holds a B.A. in sociology from Rice University and a master’s in education from Stanford University. In addition to her work in non-profit, Sonja and her husband own a small business in Playa del Carmen, Mexico, focused on literacy and education. They live in the Houston with their three children where they love spending time with family and exploring the rich cultural and culinary diversity of our vibrant city.
