Yiwen Wang is a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Sociology at Rice University. She received her doctoral degree in Sociology from the University of Texas at Austin in 2023. She also holds a master’s degree in Demography from Renmin University of China.
Yiwen’s research interests include gender and sexuality, family demography, aging and the life course. Her research focuses on how social stratification and inequality shape family dynamics and health outcomes across the life course. Her recent work investigates whether and how marriage and family matter for health, with a specific focus on the LGBT population. Her research has been published in Journal of Social and Personal Relationships, Journal of Family Studies, BMC Public Health, and other outlets. She is currently working with Dr. Bridget Gorman and Dr. Rachel Kimbro to study gender, sexuality, and health.
