Yiwen Wang is a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Sociology at Rice University and a Research Affiliate at the Center on Aging and Population Sciences (CAPS-TXan). She received her Ph.D. in Sociology with a specialization in Demography from the University of Texas at Austin in 2023.
Yiwen’s research and teaching interests include Medical Sociology, Gender and Sexuality, Family Demography, and Aging and the Life Course. Her research focuses on how social stratification and inequality shape family dynamics and health outcomes across the life course, with a particular focus on the LGBT population. Her current project, "Stress, Partnership, and Cognition in Aging Sexual Minority Adults," is supported by a P30 pilot grant from the National Institute on Aging (NIA). Her research has been published in The Journals of Gerontology, Series B: Psychological Sciences and Social Sciences, Journal of Social and Personal Relationships, Archives of Sexual Behavior, Journal of Family Studies, BMC Public Health, Asian Population Studies, and other academic outlets.
