Xiaoyun Fu

Xiaoyun Fu is currently a Lecturer in the Department of Computer Science at Rice University. Her academic journey began at Tianjin University, China where she earned a bachelor's degree in Chemistry (2009). Xiaoyun then pursued a PhD in Chemistry at the University of Delaware. However, due to allergic reactions in research labs, she shifted her focus and graduated with a master's degree in 2016. During her time at Delaware, Xiaoyun discovered a deep passion for undergraduate education while working as a teaching assistant. This experience inspired her to begin a PhD program in Computer Science at Iowa State University in 2018, where she taught the Theory of Computation as a Graduate Teaching Instructor for four semesters. After completing her PhD in 2023, Xiaoyun spent a year as a lecturer in the EPICS program at Purdue University. She is now eager to meet her upcoming students and implement her teaching methods at Rice University.
