Dr. Tony Geng is a tenure-track Assistant Professor in the ECE and CS Departments at Rice University, where he directs the IntelliArch (Intelligent Architecture) Lab. He also holds an adjunct faculty appointment at the University of Rochester. Prior to entering academia, Dr. Geng worked in the Physical and Computational Sciences Directorate at the U.S. Department of Energy’s Pacific Northwest National Laboratory. His research lies at the intersection of computer architecture and systems, generative AI, and brain-inspired AI. Dr. Geng has authored over 100 publications in premier conferences and journals spanning AI and computer architecture, including ISCA, MICRO, HPCA, OSDI, ICLR, ICML, NeurIPS, CVPR, ICCV, AAAI, DAC, SC, TPDS, TC, and TIP. The IntelliArch Lab is supported by substantial computing infrastructure, including in-house servers powered by NVIDIA Blackwell GPUs and access to more than 100,000 GPU node hours annually across leading supercomputing and cloud platforms. The lab maintains long-term research collaborations with major industry partners such as Meta and Microsoft, and its work is funded by a diverse portfolio of sponsors, including federal agencies such as DARPA, DOE, and NSF, as well as industry supporters including Meta, Microsoft, and AMD.
