Shane King is a postdoctoral researcher in the Mechatronics and Haptic Interfaces Lab in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Rice University. He studies haptic sensory augmentation for lower limb prosthesis users and the hybrid implementation of neuromodulation and robotic exoskeletons to assist upper limb motion for individuals with spinal cord injuries. He earned his BS in Biomedical Engineering at North Carolina State University in 2017, and his MS and PhD in Mechanical Engineering from Vanderbilt University in 2021 and 2023, respectively. His other research interests include the design and control of mechatronic prostheses and exoskeletons, human gait biomechanics, and the human stumble recovery response.
