Ryan Ramphul, PhD

Ryan Ramphul, PhD is a professor of Spatial Epidemiology at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston School of Public Health. He received his MS in Community and Regional Planning from the University of Texas at Austin in 2010 and his PhD from the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston School of Public Health in 2020. He has over a decade’s worth of experience conducting geospatial and community-based research on a wide array of health topics, mostly focusing on vulnerable, underserved communities. His research often utilizes Geographical Information Systems (GIS) Science to better understand how environmental and neighborhood factors, like poverty, pollution, and housing, affect health behaviors and outcomes. He regularly collaborates with research institutions like The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, Rice University, Baylor College of Medicine, and Texas Children’s Hospital.
