Ricardo J. Zednik

Dr. Ricardo J. Zednik obtained his undergraduate degrees from Rice University and his graduate degrees in Materials Science & Engineering from Stanford University. In 2014 he became Professor at the École de Technologie Supérieure de l’Université du Québec in Montréal, Canada, and since 2023 serves as Professor in the Practice in Materials Science and NanoEngineering at Rice.


Over the years, Dr. Zednik has consulted directly for executive level clients (ranging from small start-ups to the largest Fortune 500 companies) on scientific issues, and authored or co-authored hundreds of technical reports read by the highest decision makers in the medical device, automotive, consumer products and electronics, construction, as well as in the traditional and renewable energy industries. He has a particular interest in functional materials, as well as the degradation, fracture, and failure of complex materials systems. Dr. Zednik is a Licensed Professional Engineer in California (Metallurgical: MT1961), Texas (Metallurgical: 109645), and Québec (5055785), where he is a Membre de l’Ordre des Ingénieurs du Québec.
