Dr. Ossia holds a Ph.D. in French Studies from Rice University, where her research focused on Francophone-Maghrebi literature. Go Owls! Originally from Paris, she earned a maîtrise in Anglophone Cultures and History from Sorbonne University, followed by a Master of Arts in Teaching with a specialization in Second Language Education from Boston University in 2020. In recognition of her commitment to transforming language instruction through equity-driven teaching, she received Boston University’s Trailblazer Award in 2021.
Before joining Rice University as a Lecturer, Dr. Ossia taught intermediate and advanced French at the University of Houston and spent four years as a high school teacher in Massachusetts, where she also holds a teaching license. Her teaching and research interests center on integrating second-language instruction with the socio-historical contexts of French-speaking communities. She was recently selected to serve on the ACTFL Disability Working Group Committee, contributing to national efforts to promote accessibility and inclusion in language education.
