Meredith Austin

Meredith Austin is the Associate Director for the Master of Arts in Teaching and an adjunct lecturer at Rice University, where she contributes to preparing future educators. Her professional experience includes leadership roles across K-12 and higher education, with prior contributions to Johns Hopkins University and the University of St. Thomas, Houston. Dr. Austin also serves as chair of the Texas Education Agency Commissioner’s Advisory Council for Gifted/Talented Education.

Her work focuses on developing educational programs that address diverse student needs, with expertise in advanced academics and gifted education. Dr. Austin has received recognition for her contributions, being named State Advocate of the Year in 2020. She has published research in gifted education and local history, adding to the field's body of knowledge.

Meredith holds a Doctorate in Education and additional certifications and degrees. She integrates her experience in teaching, program development, and stakeholder collaboration to support the advancement of education across multiple contexts.
