Maryam Aliakbarpour is an assistant professor in the computer science department at Rice University. Prior to joining Rice, she held a joint postdoctoral research position at Boston University and Northeastern University, where she was hosted by Professors Adam Smith and Jonathan Ullman, respectively. Additionally, she worked as a postdoctoral research associate at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, under the supervision of Prof. Andrew McGregor, from Fall 2020 to Summer 2021. In Fall 2020, Maryam was a visiting participant in the Probability, Geometry, and Computation in High Dimensions Program at the Simons Institute at Berkeley. She completed her Ph.D. in September 2020 at MIT, where she was advised by Prof. Ronitt Rubinfeld. Maryam's exceptional accomplishments led to her selection as one of the Rising Stars in EECS in 2018, and she was also honored with the Neekeyfar Award from the Office of Graduate Education at MIT.
