Mary Glavan headshot

Mary Glavan is a teacher and scholar with over ten years of experience in communication instruction and consulting. Prior to joining Activate, she worked as a Visiting Assistant Professor at Tulane University and a Lecturer in the University of Southern California’s writing program. Her research explores argument, advocacy, and inquiry in academic and community contexts, and her publications appear in Rhetoric Review and Literacy in Composition Studies. In addition to teaching and research, Mary has worked as a communication consultant, academic editor, and discourse analyst. At Carnegie Mellon University, where she received a Ph.D. in Rhetoric, she worked extensively with graduate students across STEM fields, including one-on-one consultations, communication workshops, and dissertation boot camps.
