Mallesh Pai is an Associate Professor of Economics who joined Rice in 2016. He received his Ph.D. from Northwestern University and previously held a position at the University of Pennsylvania. His research focuses on issues in mechanism design/ auction theory, the economics of privacy, social networks/ social learning and statistical decision theory. Recently published articles include "Discrimination via Symmetric Auctions” (with Rahul Deb, forthcoming), "Social Learning with Costly Search" (with Manuel Mueller-Frank, 2016), and “Optimal Auctions for Financially Constrained Bidders" (with Rakesh Vohra, 2014).
