Lorenzo Luzi is an Assistant Teaching Professor in the Department of Statistics as part of the D2K Lab. He completed his B.S. in Electrical Engineering at Washington State University and received his M.S. and Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Rice University under the supervision of Dr. Richard Baraniuk. Lorenzo has also worked extensively with Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL). His research has focused on artificial intelligence, particularly generative models. Additionally, he works at openstax developing educational tools using AI. He is now primarily interested in teaching, mentoring students, and pedagogy. He has experience developing and teaching courses in machine learning, data science, and electrical engineering.

Lorenzo is also the proud father of two rambunctious children. When Lorenzo is not mentoring students or chasing after his kids, he enjoys playing cards, reading, and sitting by a campfire.
