Josh Bernstein works thematically, producing drawings, sculptures, performances and prints around excursive projects that develop according to their own logic and momentum. Past projects have delved into early contact between Spanish explorers and native Texans, and personal, idiosyncratic conceptions of outer space. He received his B.A. from Amherst College and his M.F.A. from Mason Gross School of Art at Rutgers University. Bernstein has exhibited at the Museum of Fine Arts and Bryan Miller Gallery, both in Houston, and been reviewed in the Houston Chronicle and the Houston Press, as well as Artforum.com and Artfcity.com. His work is included in several private collections and the collection of the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston. Bernstein has been an artist-in-residence at the Galveston Artist Residency and most recently at Lawndale Art Center in Houston, TX.
