Jiarong Xing will join the Department of Computer Science at Rice University as an Assistant Professor in July, 2025. He is now a Postdoctoral Scholar in the Sky Computing Lab at UC Berkeley, hosted by Prof. Ion Stoica. He obtained his Ph.D. degree in the Department of Computer Science in August 2024 at Rice University.

Jiarong is broadly interested in computer systems, networking, and security. He focuses on designing secure, efficient, scalable, and easy-to-manage networked systems for cloud data centers, large-scale ML infrastructures, and 5G edges. He aims to achieve these goals by (1) designing next-generation systems that leverage cutting-edge technologies such as RDMA, eBPF, and programmable devices, and (2) identifying and addressing limitations in existing technologies to enable easier and more efficient systems designs.
