Hazel Katz is a video artist and filmmaker. Her work is interested in the histories of revolutionary struggles and liberal processes of cooptation. Katz's films have explored the limitations of trans media representation and the interpersonal ruptures within both trans family and social movement organizing.

Her 2023 short narrative film Sydney & Kim is about the demise of a trans best friendship. Sydney & Kim is shot on 16mm, premiered at NewFest in 2024 and was selected as a Vimeo Staff Pick in 2025. Katz's debut feature narrative film Rainbow Collar, about two trans friends who get radicalized during a strike at their LGBTQ healthcare nonprofit, is in post-production and will premiere in 2027.

Katz's films have been exhibited at Anthology Film Archives, Nitehawk Cinema and festivals internationally. Her work has been supported by ICA San Diego, Human Resources Gallery, WIF and Queer Art Mentorship. She has attended residencies at MacDowell, Anderson Ranch, Bemis Center, UnionDocs, Abrons Art Center and Acre.
