Dr. Wu’s research lies at the intersection of structural biology and chromatin biology. His lab integrates cutting-edge cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM) with biochemical and genomic approaches to understand how chromatin remodelers organize the genome and regulate gene expression in physiologically relevant environments.
The lab focuses on three major questions: (1) how chromatin remodelers coordinate with other factors to organize nucleosome arrays and genome function; (2) how remodelers operate within crowded nuclear environments; and (3) how chromatin remodeling regulates cell proliferation, differentiation, and development.
By bridging molecular mechanisms with cellular function, the lab aims to uncover fundamental principles of chromatin regulation and their therapeutic potential in cancer and neurological disorders. Dr. Wu’s work has been published in Science, Nature Structural & Molecular Biology, Nature Communications, and PNAS.
