Hailey Ballew

Hailey Ballew is an Assistant Professor of Accounting and teaches Fair Value Accounting in the MACC program and Managerial Accounting in both the MACC and MBA programs.

Hailey’s research interests center on financial reporting, regulation and corporate governance in financial institutions.  She is interested in how regulation in the financial services industry affects real decisions, financial reporting choices and accounting quality. She has manuscripts under review at The Accounting Review and the Journal of Economics and Accounting.  She was awarded the Deloitte Foundation Fellowship in 2017. 

Prior to obtaining her Ph.D. Hailey was a full-time instructor at both University of Kansas and University of Colorado and has taught Introduction, Intermediate and Advanced Financial Accounting, Managerial Accounting, Audit, Mergers and Acquisitions, and Financial Statement Analysis to undergraduates, MACC and MBA students.  She is a licensed CPA and worked for four years in the audit practice at Ernst & Young.  She also worked as a financial reporting and tax manager in the financial services industry at Lockton Companies.    

Her professional experience and institutional knowledge compliment her Ph.D. training and teaching experience.  She is passionate about teaching and looking forward to developing as a productive research scholar.
